Aaaand here's BETA 1!

It's no doodle but it jumps! Jumpbot is Kuyi Mobile's flagship game for "The Minis" game series!

I also see the shadow robot, but I think it's supposed to be that way.

I was thinking that it would be beneficial if there was some sort of animation when you land exactly on the middle of the platform. Or I was thinking the light on top of the robot could change color when you make a perfect middle landing.

@nookkin: ILashes is correct, the "robot shadows" is an effect we made to make the theme more sci-fi. As for the minimize issues, I'm afraid we don't have a jailbroken device to test the game on and we're not sure if we're actually going to support it. After all, jailbreaking is more like beyond the "norm" for most users. Thanks for pointing it out though, we will look into it.

@iLashes: Noted. We've already added several new features (based from everyone's suggestions) and we may release BETA 2 before the week ends.

Jumpbot is getting better and better guys, keep 'em coming! Thanks! :)

Okay, I'm sure some of this will be repeats, because right now I'm too lazy to read the entire thread, so I apologize ahead of time. First off, I love this game. It was one of, if not my favorite, game in the Pocket PC compilation it originated from, so I'm glad it's the first one you've decided to port to the iPhone.

1. Someone mentioned not showing the help every time, and I agree. I also think that once you've seen a particular hint anywhere in the game it shouldn't show again, unless you add some kind of "reset hints" option or something.

2. I was a bit surprised, given all the hints, that there was nothing mentioning the fading platforms. Intentional or oversight? I would say if you're going to pop up hints about new things, there should be a hint about every new thing that comes up, especially since there is really no formal help aside from the basics.

3. What exactly constitutes picking up one of those receiver things? One time I was partially covering one yet I didn't pick it up. On the other hand, one time I was only partially covering a spike and I did get hit.

4. Speaking of spikes, I think when you hit a spike you shouldn't get the points for that platform.

5. The L0 thing kind of threw me. I assume that's supposed to be level, but to me you shouldn't progress a level just by jumping one platform. I associate a level with things changing or getting harder. On the other hand, if you do leave it as a level per platform, it would be great if you could pick a starting level (leaving the score at 0, of course).

6. I love the visual style, but I would suggest backing off on the side shadows just a bit. Right now that seems to take up somewhere between a third and half of the screen width wise, and I'd rather see more of the background itself.

7. Sound effects are decent enough. Music is good, but does get kind of old after a while. Maybe throw in a second track and switch between them every now and again?

Overall this is looking pretty nice so far. I think it should make a lot of casual gamers happy.

@iTracki: That was quick! Will you update your review once the game is officially out? :)

@Pointoflight: Please refer below for our answers.

1. The entire team mentioned this so we decided to fix it on BETA 2. :)
2. Oversight. Good point. :)
3. Hmmm the "bounding" box for an item is just between the actual image width and before the "edge" of the actual illustration--I know this is too technical but to sum it up, focusing on the item's center is your best bet.
4. Again, good point. Will be fixed on BETA 2.
5. To be honest, we're kinda unsure of this too. So any suggestions guys? Shall we call it "P" for platform instead of "L" for level? Will post another thread for this and allow everyone to share their thoughts.
6. Same here. The side shadows will be lighter on BETA 2. We fixed it too.
7. Agreed. Though to be honest, our budget for this project is currently too tight considering that the game will be released for FREE. If Jumpbot proves to be a hit and we get more revenues from it, we will not hesitate to add more tracks and sounds.

Glad you liked the game! Which reminds me, should I give a brief history of Jumpbot to give everyone an idea? What do you guys think? :)

It's gonna be free? Wow? I would be happy to buy this for .99 once the improvements are in place.

Yes, I'll try to review each beta release separately plus the official App Store release to mention what's different in the new release, what I liked and didn't like, etc. :)

Just responded to your other post on a different thread. Glad you got it working! Ohh yeah, iTunes can for sure be an annoyance. You should see what the devs need to go through sometimes just to get it to work. LOL :P
